The holder of the level 3 vocational qualification in building equipment electrician carries out low-voltage electrical installation work (high and low voltage) for residential and other buildings, based on assembly drawings and diagrams. You will be required to carry out safety upgrades to electrical installations in existing buildings. They receive instructions from their manager and may work alone or as part of a team. He works in coordination with other trades, in empty premises or premises occupied by users.
They travel depending on the site. They work regular hours, although deadlines may require them to work overtime or change their schedule. In residential buildings, he checks and commissions the installation. He carries out troubleshooting of the installation in the event of a malfunction being observed.
The equipment electrician works on installations for:
- low-voltage energy distribution networks in buildings
- communication networks in buildings
- security equipment (intrusion, fire, access control)
- automated and communicating equipment in buildings
- energy efficiency equipment and solutions in residential and other buildings (such as photovoltaic generator, electric vehicle charging point, consumption measurement solution)
- motor control and protection system in buildings.The training is organised into several skill modules, enabling step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical application and assessment sessions in order to promote practical and progressive learning.

A work placement also enables learners to develop their professional skills in a real-world setting.
Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

For this professional qualification, ongoing assessments (ECF) are organised throughout the course to evaluate the candidate’s progress and their mastery of professional skills.
The final examination takes place before a two-member examination panel comprising professionals from the sector. It comprises a professional role-play and an interview based on the professional portfolio (DP), which highlights the experience and skills developed by the candidate.
The final examination takes place within two months of the end of the training course.
The examination panel validates all or part of the Professional Qualification. In the event of partial validation, the professional competence certificates (CCP) (or competence modules) obtained are valid for a period of five years.
The candidate may subsequently complete the missing modules to obtain the Professional Qualification in its entirety.
